The Trader’s Help Desk Seminar teaches a professional approach to trading, a trading methodology, money management skills, and teaches you to manage yourself. While many basic trading concepts are discussed, this is not an introductory level course.
Most seminar clients are professionals in other fields who have several years’ trading experience and want to improve their performance, or to become successful for the first time. The seminar teaches specifics about entering and exiting trades, and then each student trades actively on a simulator for two days, so his trading can be evaluated.
Seminar Day 1 is an all day lecture, slide presentation, discussion, and questions. This session covers the whole range of the subject, from plans to indicators. The importance of treating trading as a business is emphasized, as well as the need for a Business Plan. The crucial importance of having a Trading Plan (a detailed and specific written plan for executing trades) is explained. Students are shown how to log each trade, and to evaluate trade entries and exits in relation to their Trading Plan. The Business Plan, Trading Plan, Trade Log, and Daily Evaluation are the critical elements of transforming the client into a professional trader.
The basics of trading are discussed in detail: markets, price, trends, volume, timeframes, charts, and indicators. Money management and trade management are central concepts to this methodology, and are explained fully. Through good money management and trade management, the trader can have excellent results without a high percentage of winning trades. There is a special emphasis on futures markets (currencies and indices), but clients are encouraged to trade any markets they prefer, with any indicators and timeframes they prefer, as long as they have a specific plan and can evaluate the results. Day 1 ends with a homework assignment:
Write up a Trading Plan to use for live trading on Days 2 and 3.
Seminar Days 2 and 3 are active trading. Each client brings a laptop and trades on a simulator, and is coached individually by Gail throughout the trading session. The client must log each trade, comment on each trade, and evaluate the daily results. Here is where each trader’s issues are identified. With the help of the THD staff, each trader can understand the issues that might have prevented his progress. The issues might be technical: understanding a basic concept or indicator or a characteristic of a particular market. Or the issues might be personal: trading too much or too little, not keeping your stops, trading too heavily to try to make up for a loss, constantly changing trading criteria, or any of the many issues of trading psychology experienced by traders that make them ignore their Trading Plan. Whatever the issues, they will be identified and addressed in two days of active trading. For many, the results of this have been a dramatic change in the client’s trading ability and results.

In addition, each seminar participant will receive a detailed course manual, trading notebook, and personal one-on-one mentoring during the session.
Attendees must bring a laptop for the second day of training and expect to work. This is not just a sit and watch seminar. It is a hand-on, practical trading and training event.
